Alumni Ambassador Spring 2020

AC Study Abroad Program: RLASP Fall 2019

Host City & Country: St. Petersburg, Russia

Home University: Bryn Mawr College

I have always wanted to learn Russian and go to Russia one day. I am a ballet dancer and have family connections to Russia, so it has always been a dream of mine to spend time there. My college provided me with the opportunity of studying in St. Petersburg with RLASP and it was one of the best experiences of my life!

The highlight of my experience was living with a host family. My host mom knew everything about the city and recommended so many places for me to travel to. I talked to her for hours every single day. Not only did I develop a really close relationship with her, but my Russian improved dramatically.

My favorite memory abroad was going to the estate of the artist Illya Repin (about 40 min from St. Petersburg). It was a perfect October day and all the trees were gold. I felt like I was in a fairy tale. That is what I loved so much about Russia. There is so much you can experience, and you don’t even need to travel that far.

E-advising topics: General Program Inquiries, Mental Health and Wellness, Living with a Host Family, First Time Abroad, Traveling as a Woman, LGBTQ+, Religion, Language Learning
